Charm School is the eighth studio album of Swedish pop rock band Roxette , released on February 11, 2011 . The previous studio album by Per Gessle and Marie Fredriksson was recorded ten years ago in 2001 and was called Room Service . On May 26, 2011, before the release of the video for the song “ Way Out ”, Roxette tour organizer Live Nation sent a press release to the Swedish media, which, among other things, indicated that the album had sold over 300 copies before the specified day since the start of sales. 000 copies worldwide, and also received "gold" certification in Germany , Russia , Sweden and Switzerland . About the album
Record Charm School was held with the participation of regular members of the group Roxette - keyboardist Clarence Everman and guitarist Christopher Lundquist . They are also the main producers of this release. The album was recorded in the studio of Lundqvist “ Aerosol Gray Machine Studios ” in Vallarum in the south of Sweden ( Len Skåne ) and in Stockholm at the EMI studios. The album was mixed in New York in November-December 2010 with the participation of Lundquist and Gessle, as well as Björn Engelmann, who worked with the group on mixing the album “ Room Service ” (2001).
The musicians themselves described the style of music as - “modernized and at the same time classical Roxette” [3] .
Title of the album and songs
The name of the disc echoes the album of the same name ( en ) of the American indie rock band Bishop Allen ( en ), released in 2003 . The title of the title single echoes the song Lady Gaga "Nothing on (but the radio)".
Cover
The author of the photo and design of the booklet was Per Wickholm, who had already collaborated with Per Gessle and developed the design for his solo album Party Crasher (2009).

Song Review
- "In My Own Way" is an expressive ballad written by Gessle in 1984.
- “ She's Got Nothing On (But The Radio) ” was written by Per in the fall of 2010.
- “No one Makes it on Her Own” - on this album Marie Fredriksson performed. In 2018, Per Gessle will record the song in a new arrangement, more in the style of country music, with a violin, and will perform it as a duet with Helena Yousefsson . Press Criticism and Feedback
The music columnist for the Swedish newspaper Expressen , Anders Nunstedt, rated the album 2 out of 5. He writes that “the new album by Roxette is a clean return to successful sound. Just a little more boring. Without the former charm. "The journalist adds:" ... the album is not bad, even twice as good as " Room Service ".
