Biography

Chronicles call him hegumen of the Constantine-Eleninsky monastery of the Kiev diocese , which in colloquial terms was usually called Volosov.

Father Superior Theodore was elevated to the Vladimir Chair in 1276 by Metropolitan of All Russia Kirill III .

Saint Theodore ruled the Vladimir-Suzdal diocese for about eleven years. This was a particularly difficult time both for his flock and for the whole of Russia.

The first mention of the name of the Prelate after his appointment as bishop dates back to 1280, when he accompanied Metropolitan Cyril on a trip to the Vladimir-Suzdal land . This year, the metropolitan visited the city of Pereyaslavl , and there along with him were the bishops closest to him, among whom was Vladimir Theodore. On December 7, 1280, in Pereyaslavl, Metropolitan Kirill died, and his body was transported to Vladimir. The burial of the deceased high priest took place in Kiev, and there, among all Russian bishops, Saint Theodore was also present and escorted his body through Vladimir to Kiev.

In 1284, Bishop of Vladimir again visited ancient Kiev, this was due to the fact that Metropolitan Maxim , who had just returned from the Horde, called to himself all the bishops of the Russian Orthodox Church. It is known that the next year, High Priest Maxim himself visited the Vladimir-Suzdal land.

The latest news of St. Theodore dates back to 1287. This year he died and was buried in the Vladimir Church of the Assumption of the Mother of God.

The stone tomb in which Bishop Theodore was placed was placed at the head of the tomb of St. Serapion. Already at the end of the XIX tomb, Bishop Theodore did not exist. On the wall, near which was the coffin of Bishop Theodore, during the restoration in 1884 inside the cathedral, an ancient inscription was opened under a layer of lime: "The relics of St. Bishop Theodore of Vladimir, laid in this place in 6974."
