Task

Task - a problem situation with a clearly defined goal that must be achieved; in a narrower sense, the goal itself is also called this goal, given within the framework of a problem situation, that is, what needs to be done. In the first meaning, the task can be called, for example, the situation when you need to get an object that is very high; the second value is heard in the instruction: "Your task is to get this item." A somewhat tougher understanding of the “task” implies not only the goal that is explicit and defined, but also the conditions of the task, which in this case is defined as a conscious problem situation with highlighted conditions (data) and requirement (goal). [1] An even narrower definition calls the problem the situation with the known initial state of the system and the final state of the system, and the algorithm for achieving the final state from the initial one is known (as opposed to the problem in which the algorithm for achieving the final state of the system is not known).

In a broader sense, a task is also understood as what needs to be completed — every task, assignment, business — even in the absence of any difficulties or obstacles in the implementation. In educational practice, etc., the “task”, on the contrary, takes a narrower meaning and denotes an exercise that requires finding a solution from known data using certain actions (inferences, calculations, moving elements, etc.) subject to certain rules of fulfillment these actions (logical task, mathematical problem, chess problem ).

Unlike a function that can be carried out continuously, the task assumes, under the given conditions, the output to achieve the final result (achievement of the solution to the problem).

Solving a problem usually requires some knowledge and reflection , choosing the right approach (algorithm of actions).

The colloquial expression "puzzle" means either "make you think" or "entrust the execution of the task."

Task Parameters

In the task allocate: [2]

  • Elements of the initial (initial) situation of the task
  • Situation Conversion Rules
  • Decision required (goal, final situation ...)

The required solution can be defined in different ways: as the final state of the situation (for example, how the assembled puzzle should look like); how to gain new knowledge (for example, 2 + 2 =?); as the establishment of certain connections (relations) between elements of a situation (for example, when it is required to determine which of the two objects is harder), etc.

Characteristics of the conditions of the problem

The following characteristics of the problem condition are distinguished: [2]

  • Habitual or unusual situation, the novelty of the task for the subject
  • The degree of separation (manifestation) of significant relations
  • Form of conditions (actual situation / image / verbal description)
  • The condition-solution ratio: conditions are sufficient / insufficient / redundant for the solution.
