Geography

The territory of the volost borders in the southeast with the Runovskaya and Gorozhan volosts of the Novosokolnichesky district , in the south and southwest with the Pustoshkinsky district , in the northwest with the Bezhanitsky district , and in the northeast with the Loknyansky district of the Pskov region .

The lakes are located on the territory of the volost: Bolshaya Vyaz (2.7 km², depth up to 8.7 m), Veyno (2.1 km², depth up to 12.6 m), Hodsho or Hotcho or Balandino (1.1 km², depth 8.5 m), Maiden (1.0 km², up to 4 m deep), Little Elm (0.8 km², up to 9.6 m depth), Upper or Upper Ostryo or Verkhniy Ostrov (0.5 km², depth to 11 m), and others. [2] The source of the Great River is located 4 km north of Lake Bolshoi Elm [3] [4] .
