The no smoking orchestra

In 1978, “Doctor” Nele Karailic and Seio Sexon created the Pseudobluz bend band (Pseudo-blues band), later renamed the “Zabranjeno Pušenje” . In 1984, their first album, “Das ist Walter”, was released and the group quickly became popular in Yugoslavia . In 1986, Emir Kusturica joined the group as a bass player and participates in the recording of the album “Pozdrav iz zemlje safari”, and also shoots several clips of the group. In 1990, the group disbanded due to internal conflict over political instability in Yugoslavia . In 1992, Nele Karailich moved to Belgrade and two years later he created his own group under the old name. On June 19, 1994, the group gives a large recital at the Student Cultural Center of Belgrade. In 1997, the album "Ja nisam odavle" was released, dedicated to the victims of the 1992-1995 war in Yugoslavia. The new drummer is Stribor Kusturica , son of Emir . In parallel, since 1996, Seio Sexon begins performing with new musicians under the same name - “Zabranjeno Pušenje” and records the album “Fildžan viška”. In 1998, Nele renamed the group “The No Smoking Orchestra” and recorded the soundtrack for E. Kusturica ’s film “ Black Cat, White Cat ” (award for best music for the film at the international film music biennale ). Since 1999, Emir Kusturica has become a regular member of the group, but already in the role of rhythm guitarist. In 2003, in Dushan Milic’s film “A Strawberry in a Supermarket ”, the song “Lost in the supermarket” (from the repertoire of the British rock band “ The Clash ”) in the processing of “The No Smoking Orchestra” (the song was included in the collection “Another World Is Possible” "). In 2004, the soundtrack to the film “ Life as a Miracle ” followed, and in 2007 to the rock opera “Time of the Gypsies”.
