Biography
Born April 20, 1925 in the village. Krasnaya Polyana is now Peschanokopsky district of the Rostov region. Russian
Then the family moved to the settlement of Bashant of the Kalmyk ASSR [1] (now the city of Gorodovikovsk ). Here he studied and received secondary education.
In the ranks of the Red Army, Lazarev was called up from school. He participated in military operations of the Great Patriotic War since July 1943 , in which he proved himself a staunch fighter.
After graduating from the Odessa Military Infantry School, Georgy Merkuryevich again at the front.
He died on October 30, 1944 during a battle near the city of Nagykeres ( Hungary ) - with a bunch of grenades he threw himself under the tracks of the enemy’s head tank and detonated it, thereby the officer at the cost of his life helped to carry out the combat mission.
Rewards
- By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of March 24, 1945, for the heroism, courage and courage shown at a critical moment in the battle, the guard, Lieutenant Georgy Merkuryevich Lazarev was posthumously awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union.
- He was awarded the Orders of Lenin and Red Star.
Memory
- The name of the Hero is the street in with. Krasnaya Polyana and a secondary school in Gorodovikovsk, where a monument was erected to him.
- In the Gorodovikovsky Museum of Local Lore there are exhibits dedicated to G. Lazarev [2]
- A memorial plaque in memory of Lazarev was erected by the Russian Military Historical Society on the building of the Krasnaya Polyana High School, where he studied.
