Biography

Born on January 10, 1933 in the city of Lipetsk in a working class family. In 1963 he graduated from the Moscow Institute of Steel and Alloys with a degree in metallurgical engineering (in absentia). Doctor of Technical Sciences (1985).

  • Since 1947 - a student of the Lipetsk Mining and Metallurgical College.
  • Since 1951 - foreman, foreman, technologist, deputy shop manager at the Ashinsky Metallurgical Plant in the Chelyabinsk Region.
  • Since 1954 he served in the Navy: cadet at the Naval Aviation Technical School.
  • Since 1955 - an airplane mechanic, foreman of an air squadron of the 997th mine torpedo regiment, sergeant.
  • 1957-58 - foreman, master, senior master,
  • 1958–63 - Head of the smelting department of the foundry of the Lipetsk Tractor Plant,
  • 1963–64 - master
  • 1964–66 - shift supervisor, assistant shop manager,
  • 1966–67 - Deputy Head of the converter shop No. 1 of the Novolipetsk Metallurgical Plant, Lipetsk.
  • 1967–70 - Head of the converter shop No. 1 of the Novolipetsk Metallurgical Plant .
  • 1970–78 - Director of the Novolipetsk Metallurgical Plant.
  • 1978–79 - Deputy Minister of Ferrous Metallurgy of the USSR, simultaneously in 1979–82. - Head of the All-Union Industrial Association of Metallurgical Enterprises.
  • 1982–85 - First Deputy Minister of Ferrous Metallurgy of the USSR,
  • 1985–89 - Minister of ferrous metallurgy of the USSR.
  • 1989–91 - Minister of Metallurgy of the USSR.

1990-1992 - First Vice-President of the Association “Perspective Materials”.

Since December 1990 - a personal pensioner of national importance.

In 1991, he was elected First Vice-President of the Russian Academy of Engineering [2] [3] .

In 1992, elected president of the International Union of Metallurgists .

In November 2000, at the XI Congress of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RSPP), he was elected to the Board of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (employers).

In October 2001, he was elected to the Steering Committee of the Nonprofit Partnership (NP) “Russian Steel Consortium” created after the signing of the agreement between NLMK and NTMK.

Member of the Central Committee of the CPSU in 1986-1991. Member of the Supreme Council of the USSR of the 11th convocation. Member of the CPSU in 1956-91 He was buried at the Troekurovsky cemetery [4] .
