Melilla's coat of arms consists of:
Azure field, two boilers, divided into gold and red squares, and filled with seven green snakes .
Along the edges are the coats of arms of Castile and Leon , nine red squares with golden locks alternating with nine silver squares with red lions .
The coat of arms is crowned with a ducal crown , above which a human figure, which represents Gusman the Good , rises. On each side there are Heracles pillars with the inscription " Non Plus Ultra " (from the Latin. - "there is no place further").
Under the emblem is a green dragon .
Motto : In the upper part of the coat of arms there is a fluttering ribbon with the inscription “ Praeferre Patriam Liberis Parentem Decet ” (from lat. - “children should prefer the motherland to parents”).
