Biographical information

Tadeusz’s father - Stefan, rented an estate where he ran a model farm, considered one of the best in the district. Memories of a childhood that passed in an atmosphere of prosperity and tranquility, and of the environment in which the local nobility lived, are the basis of many Dolen-Mostovich tales. Later, the family moved to Glubokoe . The Gluboksky House of Mostovichi was on Krakovskaya Street (now on that place is house number 2 on Sovetskaya St.).

He received his primary education at home, then studied at the Vilnius gymnasium, which he graduated in 1915. During his studies at the gymnasium, he participated in illegal organizations. While studying at Kiev University, he was a member of the Polish military organization. During the Civil War, in 1919, Dolenga Mostovic volunteered for the Polish army, where he served until 1922.

From 1922 he lived in Warsaw, from 1922-1926 he was an employee, and then the editor of the newspaper Rzecz Pospolita, he was engaged in literary work. Since 1925, on the pages of this newspaper are articles and feuilleton, signed by the pseudonym T. M. In the same 1925, the first stories appear. In 1926 he wrote under a new pseudonym - Dolenga. At this time, his career began as a journalist, feuilletonist, writer. Being an active supporter of the rival party of the Pilsudski National Democratic Party, Tadeusz Dolenga-Mostovic actively opposed the regime of Józef Pilsudski , denouncing the anti-democratic activities of the authorities in caustic humor, for which he was once captured on the street and severely beaten.

During the Second World War, Dolenga Mostovic organized a police force near the Romanian border, which, in the absence of power, ensured public order and security for the inhabitants of the town of Kuta. Tragically died in September 1939 under unknown circumstances. According to one version, when leaving the village he was shot dead by a Soviet soldier. According to another version, he died near Lviv from a stray bullet.

Creativity

He wrote in Polish. He became famous for his first novel - “ Career of Nicodemus Dyzyma ” - a sharp satire on the social and political life of Poland under the regime of Jozef Pilsudski, the events of the novel take place in Western Belarus . In 1932, the novels "Kivona", "Checks without payment", "Prosecutor Alitsa Gorn" were published - the works give a description of the political phenomena of then Poland, the life of the middle class environment. The author of the novels “The Brothers Dalch & Co.” (1933), “The World of Madame Malinovskaya” (1934), “ Healer ” (1937), “Professor Vilchur” and “The Diary of Mrs. Ganka” (1939), etc.

In 1934, Doleng-Mostovich began to collaborate with cinema. By 1939, out of 16 of his works, eight were filmed. The most popular scenarios for films: “Their Child”, “Three Hearts”, “ White Negro ”, “Professor Vilchur”, “ Sorcerer ”.

In 1978, the remains of Tadeusz Doleng-Mostowicz were reburied in Warsaw. In 1998, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary in Glubokoe, an evening was held in memory of the writer, an exhibition of his books was organized. In Glubokoye on house number 2 on the street. Soviet memorial plaque was installed in memory of Doeng-Mostovich.
