Georgy Vasilyevich Amyaga ( 1923 - August 3, 1944 ) - participant of the Great Patriotic War , division commander of the 191st rifle regiment of the 201st Gatchina motorized rifle division of the 8th army of the Leningrad front . Hero of the Soviet Union ( 03/24/1945 ; posthumously), sergeant .

Biography and feat

Born in 1923 in the village of Koksharovka (according to other sources in the village of Sokolovka) now in the Chuguev district of the Primorsky Territory in a peasant family. By nationality Russian . Member of the CPSU (b) / CPSU . Secondary education.

Called to the ranks of the Red Army in 1941 and sent to the front. The squad leader Sergeant Amyaga especially distinguished himself in July 1944 during the storming of the height near the village of Sinimäe of the Kohtla-Järve district of the Estonian SSR (now Estonia ). During the battle, he was the first to break through the minefield into the enemy’s trench, received two wounds, but continued the battle until the complete destruction of the enemy and the capture of height. Amyagi squad captured more than ten soldiers and destroyed a large number of the enemy. August 3, 1944 in one of the battles fell the death of the brave.
