Irina Leonidovna Sokolova (born December 24, 1940 , Murmansk ) is a Soviet and Russian theater and film actress. People's Artist of the RSFSR (1980).

Biography
Born in Murmansk . Irina played her first role on the professional stage when she was five years old - she played a dwarf in the fairy tale "Cinderella" and even received her first fee - candy.
In 1963 she graduated from a theater studio at the Youth Theater. A. A. Bryantseva and in the same year was accepted into the troupe of the Youth Theater. The actress began her career in the role of travesty .
She was a favorite actress of the artistic director of the Youth Theater in 1962-1986, Z. Y. Korogodsky [2] .
In 1963, she first appeared in films. Since 1980 (for more than thirty years) she has repeatedly starred in the films of Alexander Sokurov . Her most notable works are in the films Sorrowful Insensibility , Eclipse Days , Moloch , and Taurus .
In 1995, Irina Sokolova was the artistic director of the Youth Theater, while continuing to play in theater performances.
In 1997, the play "Old World Landowners" directed by Georgy Vasiliev , where she played the role of Pulcheria Ivanovna, was successfully shown at the international theater festival in Avignon (France), traveled to many countries: Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, France, Germany, Czech Republic, Turkey, Belarus, visited Moscow at the festival of Russian drama, in Vladimir, in many provincial cities of Russia [3] .
In 1999, Irina Leonidovna, among several artists, left the troupe of the theater, along with Anatoly Praudin, the artistic director of the Youth Theater, who was removed from the post. From that moment to this day, Irina Sokolova - artist of the theater "Experimental Scene" (in the " Baltic House ") under the direction of Anatoly Praudin. In the "native" Youth Theater, as a guest actress, now plays three roles. She is also a guest actress of the Theater of Generations .
