Biography
He studied at the theological seminary, then at the gymnasium. In 1817 he graduated from Vilnius University with the title of candidate of philosophy. In 1819 he received the title of doctor, October 10, 1825 received the title of doctor of medicine and surgery.
He served in Mogilev as a military surgeon, participated in the Russian-Turkish war and in the suppression of the Polish uprising . After his resignation, he dealt with the problems of vaccination .
In 1833-1866 he published the first in Russia medical newspaper " Friend of Health " with funds allocated by the government. He wrote on a wide variety of issues, published some popular books on hygiene, which were quite widespread. In particular, the author of the book “Good advice to the mother”, which contained tips on recognizing diseases in children.
He wrote three volumes of the book "Guide to the upbringing, education and preservation of children's health." In the first volume, attention was paid to the hygiene of a pregnant woman, nursing mothers and infants , in the second - the problems of preschool children, in the third - various issues of youth. His publications are known: "Manual on the treatment of childhood diseases ", a reference book " Medicines and means that are available for doctors", "A complete systematic description of mineral waters, therapeutic mud and bathing in the Russian Empire" (1855).
