Biography
Parents are teacher-philologists. During the Second World War, his father went to the front, where he died defending Kiev. He received his primary education in Izyaslav Secondary School No. 1. After the war, the family moved to his grandfather in Narodichi . Here M. Popovich graduated from high school and in 1948 entered the university [2] .
In 1953 he graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy of Kiev State University. T.G.Shevchenko and for three years worked as the director of a secondary school in the village. Golden Stream (Buchach district) in the Ternopil region . Member of the CPSU (1955-1990) [3] .
In 1956 he entered the graduate school of the Institute of Philosophy of the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and since then has remained his whole life as an employee. Here, in 1960, he defended his dissertation for the degree of candidate of philosophical sciences on the topic "Irrationalism in modern French philosophy." In 1966, at the Department of Economics, History of Philosophy and Law of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR, he defended his thesis for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy on the topic "Philosophical analysis of the language of science." Since 1969 - Head of the Department of Logic and Methodology of Science, and since 2001 - Director of the Institute of Philosophy named after G. S. Pans of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine . Editor-in-chief of the scientific journal Philosophical Thought .
In 1992 he was elected a corresponding member, in 2003 - an academician of the NAS of Ukraine.
He was awarded the Gold Medal named after V.I. Vernadsky of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (2007).
October 15, 2009 was awarded the title of Honorary Doctor of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, and in 2015 - the title of Honorary Professor of the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy.
Member of the editorial board of the online publication "Religion in Ukraine" ( Ukrainian Religion in Ukraine ). [five]
