Garfield 2

A royal cat named Prince XII lives in his cozy estate Caroleil. He knows no other life. And Garfield himself also lives like a king, but his life is a little different from the life of the Prince. His host, John Arbuckle, is preparing to meet his girlfriend Liz, but she says she will fly to London the next day. John decides to follow her. Garfield and Oddi, he leaves the animal shelter. Animals still get out to freedom and sit in his car. John settles in the same hotel as Liz. There he wants to make her an offer.

In the castle lives a man named Lord Dargis. He hates animals and dreams of becoming the king of the estate. The deceased owner of the castle, Lady Elenor, who is Dargis aunt, bequeaths her wealth to the Prince, which causes discontent with Dargis. However, one of the lawyers told Dargis that after the death of the Prince, the entire inheritance will go to Dargis. The news that the Prince has become king pleases the whole barnyard. Later, however, Dargis gets rid of the Prince, throwing him into the river. Animals quickly learn about how the Lord acted with the new king.

John and Liz, who met at the hotel, decide to stroll around London. Suddenly, Garfield appears with Oddi. John does not let Garfield out, because he does not want to lose him. Animals use the perfect moment to escape , but they never find John. At one of the Garfield intersections, the butler Smitty picks up, mistaking him for the Prince (the Prince and Garfield look like two drops of water). Unlike Dargis, Smithy loves animals. Meanwhile, the Prince is selected from the sewer . John meets the dirty Prince. He picks up the cat, taking him for Garfield.

Dargis calls Mr. Hobbs (one of the lawyers who read the will ). Dargis pretends to be crying about the death of the Prince. Lawyers still suspect something and send to the castle of one of their people - Lady Westminster. The lord tells her (and listening animals) that he wants to demolish the farmyard and build a resort and recreation complex in its place, and place animals on the table for guests. After some time, Mr. Hobbs calls Dargis and says that if until Monday the Prince is not found, then the power completely passes into the hands of the Lord.

And at the hotel John Prince decides to run back to the castle. He finds a map with the castles of England and runs away. Oddy shows John a newspaper with a photo of the Prince, and he realizes that Garfield could be confused with him. Dargis tries to try all the ways to catch Garfield-Prince, and pulls the dog dragged off to the cats. However, the four-legged inhabitants of the castle retrain him to bite Dargis. After some time, Dargis catches Garfield, but at the same time lawyers also arrive. Dargis locks Garfield in the dungeon, from where the court dog Winston and the mouse Claudius release him. On the stairs of the castle, Garfield meets the returning Prince.

The prince tells the barnyard that they go to another land. Garfield assures him that Dargis is easy to beat. The animals are setting up an ambush for Dargis. As a result, lawyers find him in torn clothes. Mr. Hobbs asks what happened. Dargis says: “I had a difficult day today, but this cat just does not want to die.” Then he takes out a crossbow and threatens the lawyers that if they do not rewrite the estate to him, he will kill them. Oddi and John appear at the same time. Dargis takes Liz hostage while taking a gun. The prince calls the ferret Nigel, who curses his legs. The lord is picked up by the police , led by Smitty. John makes a proposal to Liz, and she agrees. Now John and Liz are as happy as ever.

On the well-known Internet portal Rotten Tomatoes, the film received 11% of “freshness”, and with it the “Rotten” mark. Unlike the sequel, the rating of top critics was significantly higher than that of all critics - 27% of “freshness”. The assessment of the usual audience on the same site as of February 25, 2012 is 59% ^[4] . Of the 73 film reviews, only 8 were “fresh”, the remaining 65 were “rotten.” For example, in one of these reviews, top critic Peter Hartlaub put it like this in a film:

The best that can be said about the movie “Garfield 2: A Story of Two Cats” is that it is not completely as bad as its name.
