Botanical Description
Dioecious plants.
The tuber is bluish-green on the outside, spherical, 2-4 cm in diameter.
Leaves
There are three cataphillas , brown, usually with reddish spots, 15–20 cm long, sharp or blunt at the apex.
One or two leaves . Petioles are greenish or brownish-green, with violet spots, 17–35 cm long, about 1 ⁄ 3 –½ embedded in the vagina , forming a false stalk . The leaf blade consists of three leaflets; leaflets below pale greenish with raised pink veins , green above with pale green veins; central leaflet with petiole 1.5–5 cm long, oblong or oval, 8–22 cm long and 4–10 cm wide, at the base long descending or obtuse, pointed at the apex; lateral leaflets sessile, oblique, oblong, 3–23 cm long and 2–8 cm wide, at the base ear-shaped and rounded.
Inflorescences and flowers
The inflorescence appears before the leaves. The peduncle is pale green, without spots, almost equal in length to the petioles, but usually shorter than them. The coverlet is pale purple or pale olive green with purple stripes. The tube is funnel-shaped, 4–7 cm long and 1–2.5 cm in diameter, oblique and narrowly curved or not curved at the neck; the plate is curved or almost vertical, usually with white stripes inside, broadly lanceolate or oval, 4–7 cm long and 2.5–3 cm wide, pointed at the apex, compressed, usually with a caudate formation 3-5 cm long.
The cob is same-sex. The male zone is cylindrical, 1.5-2.5 cm long; Sinandria is weak; anthers 2 or 3, on the leg; theca purple, ovoid, opened by the apical pore; the female zone is cylindrical or hemispherical, 1-2 cm long; ovary green, obovate; the column is short, disk-shaped stigma . The appendage is vertical, from pale green to whitish green, cylindrical, slightly compressed in the middle, truncated at the base and dorsal at the apex, at the apex, 6–8 mm long.
It blooms in April - July.
Fruits
The fruitfulness is inclined.
The number of chromosomes 2n = 28, 56, 84.
Distribution
It is found in Central and Southern China [2] .
It grows in forests , thickets, on grassy slopes, at an altitude of 600 to 3300 m above sea level.
