Women's World Hockey Championship 2008 in the 4th Division - IIHF sponsored ice hockey competition held from March 23 to 29, 2008 as a year ago in Miercurea Ciuc , Romania . The first place team got the right to play in the third division of the 2009 World Cup. However, this tournament was canceled for various reasons [1] . In this regard, the Icelandic national team , which won first place, continued to perform in the fourth division.

Six national teams took part in the championship - four from Europe , one from Oceania and Africa . The South African national team came from the third division , the rest - from the last tournament of the fourth division .
