    Palearctic: from Western Europe and the Caucasus to Siberia and Japan [2] .

    Description

    Workers have a length of about 3-5 mm, the uterus is larger (7-8 mm), males less than 5 mm. Worker yellow, abdomen dark yellow. The female is yellow-brown, the male is dark brown. Anthills in rotten wood, in soil, under stones [2] . Nesting social parasites : a fertilized female of a parasitic species enters the nest of the host species, kills the queen in it, taking its place, and begins to lay its own eggs. The working individuals emerging from them gradually inhabit the anthill, replacing its owners. The female yellow ant ( Lasius umbratus ), having previously killed the uterus, can settle in the nest of the black garden ant ( Lasius niger )
