Thapsaev, Vladimir Vasilievich

He was born on July 2 (15), 1910 (the year of birth - 1912 ^[1] is indicated on the tombstone) in Ardon (now in North Ossetia ).

Early left without parents. At the age of 12, he became interested in theater after he once saw a production of the play “Two Sisters” by E. Britaev on an amateur rural scene.

The young man worked on the construction of the first high-mountain Gizeldon hydroelectric station in the North Caucasus, then in the mines and processing plant of the Sadon Lead-Zinc Plant. In the 30s he worked on the construction of Komsomolsk-on-Amur . Here for the first time revealed his outstanding stage talent.

He studied at the Krasnodar Road Construction College.

Returning home to North Ossetia, he became one of the activists of the youth propaganda Theater of Small Forms (Temaf) that was operating in the republic at that time. Since 1933 he studied at the studio at the Russian Theater in Ordzhonikidze (now Vladikavkaz ).

Since 1935 - actor of the North Ossetian Drama Theater (Ordzhonikidze). He performed a huge classical and Ossetian repertoire.

He toured the Soviet Union, Europe, Africa.

Member of the CPSU (b) since 1948 . Member of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of the 6th (1962-1966) and 9th (1974-1979) convocations, the Supreme Council of the North Ossetian ASSR 2-5th convocations.

He died on October 8, 1981 (according to other sources - October 22) in Ordzhonikidze . He was buried in the Pantheon (in the fence of the Ossetian church ), next to the founder of Ossetian literature K. Khetagurov ^[3] .

• In 1964 , during the celebration of the 400th anniversary of the birth of W. Shakespeare at the Royal Theater in London , he was noted by Queen Elizabeth as the best performer in the world as Othello ^[5] . V. Thapsaev performed it in Ossetian as part of a troupe of actors from leading theaters in the world invited to the capital of Great Britain to stage the tragedy of W. Shakespeare.
