The Tiger Summit (International Forum on Problems Related to the Conservation of the Tiger on Earth) was held in St. Petersburg from November 21 to 24, 2010. This was officially announced by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Russian Federation , the organizer of the upcoming meeting at the level of the heads of government of the countries in whose territory the tigers were preserved.
In addition to the Government of the Russian Federation, the governments of the People's Republic of China, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the Kingdom of Thailand, the Republic of Indonesia, Cambodia, the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal, the People's Republic of Bangladesh, the Republic of India, the Kingdom of Bhutan, and Lao Democratic Republic.
In 2008, under the personal control of Vladimir Putin, the Amur Tiger program was launched, a program to study the Amur tiger with the aim of preserving it in the wild.
And a year later, a working group of the Ministry of Nature and Ecology of the Russian Federation prepared a draft “Amur Tiger Conservation Strategies in Russia”, which was adopted at the conference “Amur Tiger in North-East Asia: Conservation Problems in the 21st Century”.
During the summit, a global strategy for tiger conservation and the Declaration of the Heads of Government of the invited states on intentions to do everything possible to save the tiger will be adopted.
