Biography
He was born in the village of Kobylinka, Zamaraysky volost, Efremovsky district, Tula province (now Kytino, Efremovsky district, Tula region) in a peasant family.

Since 1938 - the commander of the 212nd Airborne Brigade . At the head of this brigade he participated in the hostilities on the Khalkhin-Gol river in 1939 , and in the summer of 1941 as part of the 3rd airborne corps - in the defense of Kiev . The 212nd brigade fought fierce battles with the enemy north of Kiev, near the city of Oster. The brigade’s troops thwarted all the enemy’s attempts to cross the Desna River, and later held off the crossing of the Seim River and fought stubbornly in the Konotop and Chernihiv directions.
Since August 29, 1941, in connection with the appointment of corps commander Major General Vasily Glazunov to the post of commander of the airborne forces , Colonel Zatevakhin was appointed commander of the 3rd airborne corps in the 40 army of the South-Western Front. On August 18, 1945, Lieutenant General Zatevakhin was awarded the second order of Kutuzov, 2nd degree.
After the war, he was responsible for work at the USSR Ministry of Defense, and became a candidate of military sciences.
