Geography and Hydrology
The M37 highway runs near the reservoir. On the northeastern coast is the village of Hanhovuz, nearby is the city of Tedzhen . It was built on the stretch of the second stage of the Karakum Canal ( Mary - Tejen , the construction of which was completed in 1960 [1] ) to regulate the flow of the Tejen river . It plays an important role for agriculture. Its waters irrigated up to 100 thousand hectares of land. Mineralization of water in 1987 was 0.6 - 1 g / liter [2] .
Development Prospects
In 2007, work began on increasing the height of the main dam of the Khauzhan reservoir, which will double the capacity of the Khauzhan reservoir to 1.5 billion mΒ³ [3] .
Fauna
The reservoir is home to 32 species of fish [2] , including grass carp and silver carp [4] , bream , common carp , roach , pikeperch , Aral barbel , and Chekhon [5] . Here ducks and coots [6] and black-headed laughter wintry here .

Named after the founder of the Hunnu Empire and its ruler ( shanyu ) from 209 to 174. BC e. Oguzkhan .
