Balliclare is defined by the Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency (NISRA) as a small town (that is, as a city with a population of between 4,500 and 10,000 people) [1] .
Transportation
On one of the railway lines, the local station opened on August 24, 1878, was closed to passengers on October 1, 1930, closed to freight traffic on June 3, 1940, and finally closed on July 3, 1950. On another line, the station was opened on November 3, 1884, closed to passengers on January 1, 1938, closed to goods on May 2, 1938, and finally closed, like the first station, on July 3, 1950 [2] .
