The commune is located at a distance of [1] about 200 km south of Paris , 95 km south of Orleans , 45 km north-east of Chateauroux .
The basis of the economy is the production of wine. Vineyards occupy an area of about 150 hectares. Three grape varieties are grown: Sauvignon, Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris.
Since 1953, every year at Easter , a festival of wine has been held in Rey.
