Hemonkhoz

Haemonchosis ( Haemonchosis ) - helminthiasis in humans and animals from the group of nematodoses .

  • Haemonchus contortus

The causative agent is nematodes from the genus Haemonchus . Distributed all over the world. Gemonkhus reach 18–35 mm in length. Larvae develop in the external environment.

In ruminants, it causes severe disorders of the whole organism, which are manifested in damage to the intestines, nervous system, blood-forming organs and endocrine glands; young animals (and he is most susceptible to invasion) often die. In the southern regions of sheep, hemonkhosis sometimes proceeds in the form of enzootia (often in years with heavy rainfall). The treatment is carried out with phenothiazine, which is fed with crushed grain.

In humans, invasion by the Haemonchus contortus geohelminth is rare, the disease proceeds with dyspeptic symptoms. Infection occurs through the mouth.
