Aden ( fr. Adenet ) - Old French poet of the XIII century . Adena received from his contemporaries the nickname le Roy ( fr. Le Roi - king ), which meant "the king of the troubadours ".

Aden le Roy was born in Brabant and lived at the court of Duke Henry III of Brabant (1248–61) and Count of Flander Guido de Dampier, whom he accompanied in his campaign to Italy in 1269, also enjoyed the patronage of Queen Mary of France, Blanca of Castile and Louis IX of Saint .
Aden le Roy, whose flourishing activity dates back to the second half of the 13th century, is known to us as the author of three poems from the legends about Charlemagne : “ Berte aux grans piés ” ( Paris edition, 1832 and 1836, Scheler, Brussels , 1874), “ Les enfances Ogier "(ed. Scheler, Bruce., 1874) and" Bueves de Commarchis "(ed. Scheler, Bruce., 1874), written in Alexandrian poems , as well as the court chivalric novel " Cleomades ", in which he is a skilled storyteller common legends and of which the three first poems represent the last attempt to instill in the court class interest in the French zsky national epic .
