The Skop region ( Macedonian Skopsky region ) is one of the eight statistical regions of Northern Macedonia . The name comes from the city of Skopje .

The region includes 17 communities located in the northern part of the country. The Skop region includes the urban communities that make up the Skopje community : Aerodrome , Butel , Gazi Baba , Gorche-Petrov , Karposh , Kisela-Voda , Saray , Center , Chair and Shuto-Orizari , as well as nearby (suburban): Arachinovo , Zelenikovo , Ilinden , Petrovets , Sopishte , Studenichani and Chucher-Sandevo .
According to the results of the 2002 census, 578,144 residents live in the communities of the Skopje region, of which 506,926 people are in Skopje [1] . The total area of the region’s communities is 1848 km² .
