General information
The university has 8 faculties, 42 departments and 42 of their branches. Institute for Advanced Studies, Scientific Research Institute of Mechanization and Electrification (NIIMESKH BSTU), publishing and printing center, center for training in new technologies. There is a library with a fund of more than 500 thousand educational publications.
Education at the university is carried out in 12 specialties of higher education of the first stage and in 6 specialties of the second stage of higher education. There are 5 educational and laboratory buildings in Minsk, 3 educational and laboratory buildings in Borovlyany .
History
The history of the university is closely connected with the history of the post-war restoration of the country's national economy, especially its agricultural sector. The creation in 1954 in Belarus of the Institute of Agricultural Mechanization (now BSTU) was a task of national importance, in the post-war period, agricultural enterprises practically did not have specialists with higher education. In 1951, there were only 135 mechanical engineers with higher education in agriculture in Belarus, including 17 people in the MTS. There was an urgent need for the training of qualified specialists.
In 1952, Belarusian scientists led by Professor M. E. Matsepuro took the initiative to create the Institute of Agricultural Mechanization in Minsk , the proposal was supported by the Council of Ministers of the USSR . On October 1, 1954, the first 200 students began classes in two specialties: 150 - "mechanization of agriculture", 50 - " electrification of agriculture". At the institute, 8 departments were formed.
In 1956, graduate school and correspondence department were opened.
In 1965, the faculty of public professions was opened.
In 1966, the Faculty of Organization and Technology for Repair of Agricultural Machines was established.
At the beginning of 1970, 585 people worked in the BIMSH. Of the 263 scientific and scientific-pedagogical workers, 5 had the degree of doctor and 83 - candidate of science. 2255 students studied full-time, 1819 part-time students. For the first time, the institute began to train engineers in 5 specializations: “Agricultural Mechanization”, “Livestock Mechanization”, “Electricity Use in Agriculture”, “Electricity Supply in Agriculture”, “Organization and agricultural machinery repair technology. "
In October 1973, two more specialties were introduced: "livestock automation" and "poultry automation."
In 1974, over the course of 20 years, the main building, 2 educational and laboratory buildings, 7 dormitories, a training and repair workshop, a canteen for 500 seats and a garage were built; a sports building was commissioned;
At the XXII Olympiad, which was held in Moscow in June 1980, the teacher of the BIMSX weightlifter L. A. Taranenko won a gold medal and set a number of world records.
In 1987, the institute became the winner of the All-Union Socialist Competition, awarded the passing Red Banner of the Central Committee of the CPSU , the Council of Ministers of the USSR , the All-Union Central Council of Trade Unions and the Central Committee of the Komsomol .
In 1992, the Belarusian Institute of Agricultural Mechanization was transformed into the Belarusian Agrarian Technical University.
In 1994, the faculty of pre-university training and vocational guidance of youth was opened.
In 1996, BATU successfully passed the state certification, confirming the status of the university. This year, the Faculty of Entrepreneurship and Management was also established (dean - candidate of technical sciences, associate professor Vyacheslav Pavlovich Stepantsov).
At the end of 2000, the university was renamed the Belarusian State Agrarian Technical University (BSTU).
In 2002, the faculty of advanced training was renamed the faculty of advanced training and retraining of personnel (later it was transformed into the Institute of advanced training and retraining of personnel of the agricultural sector);
In 2011, the Faculty of Engineering and Technology was opened.
After a major reconstruction in the fall of 2007, an artificial turf stadium was put into operation, in February 2010 - an educational and exhibition pavilion, in 2012 - a new educational building (5/3), which housed the Scientific Research Institute of Mechanization and Electrification of Agriculture and Institute for Advanced Studies and Retraining of Agribusiness Personnel; educational and laboratory building with a dormitory in Borovlyany, overhaul of student dormitory No. 1 has begun.
Current status
Academic Work
Students are taught full-time higher education at 5 faculties of the university (agromechanical, agro-energy, engineering and technology, "Technical Service in the agro-industrial complex", department of entrepreneurship and management) in 18 specialties, in correspondence - at 3 faculties (mechanization, electrification , entrepreneurship and management); in the branch of BSTU - Buda-Koshelevsky State Agrarian and Technical College - in 8 specialties. Training in educational programs with a reduced training period is conducted in full-time and part-time forms in 5 specialties.
Practical training of students is an integral part of the educational process. Its task is to prepare a specialist in the chosen specialty with in-depth consolidation of theoretical knowledge, professional and creative, performing skills at each stage of training.
Training Practice
The task of conducting educational practice is to prepare students for a conscious and in-depth practical study of academic disciplines, consolidate their theoretical knowledge, and instill primary skills in their chosen specialty.
Training practices are conducted in the following types: technological basis of crop production; technological fundamentals of animal husbandry; technology of materials; management and preparation for operation of tractors and MTA; refrigeration equipment; electric fitter; fact-finding.
Students undergo training practice in 7 departments: “Industrial Training” , “Practical Training of Students” , “Technology of Metals” , “Fundamentals of Scientific Research and Design” , “Fundamentals of Agronomy” , “Technology and Mechanization of Livestock Production” , “Economic Informatics” , and also at the Republican Training and Production Center for Practical Training in New Technologies and the Development of Machine Complexes.
During the practice, field classes are organized for students at the Scientific and Practical Center of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus on agriculture, livestock breeding and mechanization, in agricultural organizations, in processing and other agricultural enterprises; they also visit exhibition centers.
International cooperation
The Belarusian State Agrarian Technical University cooperates with more than 90 universities and organizations of the CIS, EU countries, the People's Republic of China and other countries.
Teachers and university staff travel abroad for internships, conferences, symposia. The University periodically invites lecturers from teachers of foreign universities, organizes international conferences, seminars and meetings of representatives of leading foreign companies in the USA, Germany, Poland, Russia, Ukraine and other countries with university teachers.
Citizens of the CIS countries, China, Lithuania, Azerbaijan, Nigeria, South Africa, the Federal Frontier Service, Turkmenistan and other countries study at BSTU. Upon graduation, they receive a diploma of the appropriate sample.
For foreign citizens, training is organized at preparatory courses and Russian language courses, at basic faculties (4 years of study), in master's programs, postgraduate studies and training in the form of internships. All foreign citizens are provided with a hostel.
University students participate in international agricultural internship programs of the German Peasant Union, the Bavarian Peasant Union, the Doyla-Nienburg Training Center, and the APOLLO Association (Germany).
For the first time in the history of bilateral relations between Belarus and South Africa in the field of education in 2016, 27 young South Africans began training at the Belarusian State Agrarian and Technical University (BSTU).
