Sports career
He played hockey, receiving a sports scholarship at Colorado College. During the Korean War he served as a marine, which, however, did not prevent him from taking part in the Oslo Winter Olympics (1952). The athlete distinguished himself in a game against the Finnish team, which the US team won with a score of 8: 2, four goals on Rompri's account. As a result, together with his teammates he climbed to the second step of the podium after the champions from the Canadian team.
After completing military service, he was offered to play for the New York Rangers, but he refused, preferring to graduate from college. Then the athlete moves to Woopan (Wisconsin), where he plays for the Fond du Lac Bears, in which he twice becomes the state champion. After completing a gaming career until 1975, he coached this team.
In 1989, he was awarded the William Taft Tayer Hockey Award for his contribution to the development of this sport among Wisconsin youth. For his sporting achievements, in 1992 he was inducted into the US Hockey Hall of Fame.
