He played for the Leningrad army teams DKA / DO / VMMA / ODO (1945-1955). Three-time silver (1947-1949) and three-time bronze (1945, 1946, 1950) medalist of the USSR championships .

In the USSR national team in official competitions he performed in 1949-1952. It consists of: two - time world champion ( 1949 and 1952 ), two - time European champion ( 1950 and 1951 ). 4-time winner of the World Student Games (1947, 1949, 1951, 1953).

Since 1939 he served in the Red Army . Member of World War II . He fought in the air defense units of the Leningrad Front as a radio operator, platoon commander of the regiment of air surveillance, warning and communications. He ended the war with the rank of guard senior lieutenant .
