Biography
Hino was born in China to a family of Japanese immigrants who, after the defeat of Japan in World War II, were forced to return to their homeland and settled in Tokyo . [4] Hino claimed that he was nearly killed by residents of his city during an evacuation from China. Landscapes [5] and plots of some manga (for example, Panorama of Hell ) are based on the events of the author’s life, for example, his grandfather was actually a yakuza .
Hino initially dreamed of working in the film industry, [5] but the manga of authors such as Shigeru Sugiura and Yoshiharu Tsuge encouraged him to draw classes. He began his career as an artist with the creation of amateur work - doujinshi . [4] His first professional work was published in the experimental experimental manga magazine COM in 1967. Subsequently, his work also appeared in Garo, and along with the Shocking Theater (published since 1971) brought the author popularity. In 2004, Pony Canyon made six films based on his manga entitled Hidey Hino's Horror Theater .
