Klishina, Daria Igorevna

Darya Igorevna Klishina (born January 15, 1991 , Tver ) is a Russian long jumper . Vice world champion ( 2017 ). Two- time European indoor champion ( 2011 , 2013 ), world champion among athletes under 17 years of 2007, European champion among juniors in 2009, European champion among youth in 2011.

The holder of the junior record of Russia with a result of 7.05 m [2] . This is the third result among juniors in the entire history of long jumps, second only to Heike Drexler , who jumped in 1983 at 7.14 m and 7.08 m [3] .

Daria Klishina graduated from Synergy University in 2012 with a degree in Sports Management [4] .

At first she was involved in volleyball, but her father, a former athlete, decided to give it to an individual sport. Trained under the leadership of Yuri Kirillov [5] [6] . At the age of 13, Olga Shemigon was noticed at children's competitions, at the invitation of which she moved to the Olympic Reserve School in Moscow [7] .

At the 2010 Indoor World Championships in Doha, the 19-year-old Russian woman took fifth place with a score of 6 m 62 cm, losing only 1 cm to a bronze medalist and 8 cm to champion Brittney Reese from the USA.

In 2011, the Bulgarian sports Internet resource SPORTAL.BG called Klishina “the sexiest Russian athlete,” and earlier Klishina was chosen as the most beautiful young athlete by PROSPORT magazine. [8]

On July 17, 2011, at the youth continental championship in Ostrava, Daria showed the second result of the season in the world among adults and set a record for European Championships among youth - 7.05 m [9] . In 2013, she won gold at the Universiade in Kazan.

Since 2013, lives in the USA [10] , where he trains with Loren Seagrave [11] .

May 18, 2014 at the stage of the Diamond League Shanghai Golden Grand Prix took 5th place with a score of 6.62 m. May 30 took 2nd place at Prefontaine Classic - 6.88 m. In 2016, she took part in several domestic competitions. June 4 became the winner of the Znamensky brothers memorial with a score of 6.73 m [13] . Eight days later, on June 12, she won the All-Russian competition in Yerino - 6.80 m [14] . On June 21, 2016, Daria won the Russian Championship with a score of 6.84 m [15] .

In July 2016, she became the only Russian athlete admitted by the International Association of Athletics Federations to compete in the 2016 Olympics in Brazil as a neutral athlete [16] [17] . Later, President of the International Olympic Committee Thomas Bach specified that Klishina has the right to speak at the Olympics under the Russian flag [18] . August 13, 2016 Klishina was suspended from the Games, as new information appeared in the context of the report of the independent WADA commission led by Richard McLaren . Klishina filed an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). On August 15, 2016, CAS granted Klishina’s complaint and allowed it to participate in the competition [19] . On August 18, Daria Klishina took the 9th place in the final of the long jump competition with a score of 6.63 m after the first three attempts, not getting the right to the next three attempts [20] .

In 2019, Daria won gold in the long jump at the Russian Championship , which takes place in Cheboksary. The athlete showed a result of 6.82 meters [21]
