Rogla

Rogla - mountain, town and resort , in the Pohorje region ( en: Pohorje ) in northeastern Slovenia . The area is traditionally part of Lower Styria ( Lower Styria ). It is currently included in the Savinja statistical region .

Tourism in the Pohorje region began to develop before the Second World War. The first watch tower on Rogla appeared in 1934. Most of the tourist buildings were burned during the war. The mountain shelter on Rogla was rebuilt in 1956 and was under the administration of the tourism association of the city of Zreče ( en: Zreče ) until 1972, when it was acquired and rebuilt by Unior dd . In 1974, the UNIOR management commissioned to conduct research on the development of Rogla as a ski resort. The road leading to the top of the mountain has been extended. The first ski lifts were built, which could carry up to 900 people per hour.

The idea was to develop the resort of Rogla together with other tourist centers in Pohorje in order to offer a full range of services: skiing, spa treatments in Zreča and agritourism. Thus, in 1978, the construction of the Dobrava Hotel in Zreča and the Planja Hotel in Rogl began. Hotel Plana was opened in 1980 with new ski lifts. The following year, the construction of the Dobrava Hotel with 70 seats, a swimming pool, and a new sports stadium was completed.

By the 1990s, Rogla is a well-equipped ski resort with 1,200 seats, with lifts capable of carrying up to 12,200 skiers per hour. The new hotel Dobrava with 160 beds was opened in 2000, in addition, between 2002 and 2004, 4 new lifts were built and an artificial snow system was organized, which makes Roglu one of the best ski resorts in Slovenia with the longest ski season .

Currently in Rogl there are 13 ski slopes of different levels of complexity. Rogla is the first Olympic center in Slovenia where teams from European countries train. It often hosts various international competitions.
