Anastigmat

Optical scheme of anastigmatov: a - symmetrical design, b - proportional design

Anastigmat is a lens in which almost all aberrations are corrected, including astigmatism and curvature of the image field [1] . Anastigmata can be considered lenses of any designs and types that meet these conditions. Most anastigmatov give good image quality throughout the field with large values of the relative aperture , providing a high aperture ratio .

An astigmat consists of at least three lenses (if it does not contain other optical elements and aspherical lenses). The simplest anastigmat is a triplet . The vast majority of modern photographic, film and television lenses - anastigmata. For the first time, the Protar lens ( German Protar ), corresponding to the anastigmate class, was designed by the German optician Paul Rudolf in 1890 [2] .
