Promotions (abbreviated promos ; also called promosingle ) - audio recordings released on phonograph records , eight-track cassettes, compact cassettes , CDs , MP3 , VHS , DVD or Blu-ray , and distributed free of charge to promote commercial recording. Promotions are usually sent in advance to radio stations and television, to producers , music journalists and critics (so that their reviews appear on time) and DJs. Usually packaged in standard white packaging, without text or photographs used in the design of a full-fledged publication.
