It originates on the western slopes of the nameless mountain range, which belongs to the western part of the Sikhote-Alin mountain system. It flows into the Bikin River on the right, 52 km from its mouth, on the administrative border of the Primorsky and Khabarovsk Territories .
Alchan is the largest tributary of the Bikin River.
The length of the river is 170 km, the basin area is 3860 km², the total fall of the river is 304 m. Its width is up to 60 m, its depth reaches from 0.3 to 2 m.
The main tributaries of the river: Snail , Right, Left, Wide.
In summer, frequent floods caused by intense prolonged rains .
The only settlement on the river is the village of Verkhny Pereval of the Pozharsky district .
- The village of Alchan and the station of Alchan are on the left bank of the Bikin River , about 10 km above the mouth of the Alchan River.
