Shonhyr is a mountain in Khakassia , the highest mark (2,789 m above sea level) of a high-mountain steeply inclined massif with an area of about 2 thousand km², located in the foothills of the Western Sayan (south-west of Tashtypsky district ).

The summit is rocky alpino-type. Slopes above 2000 m above sea level. m covered with tundra (moss-lichen, shrub) on poorly developed mountain-tundra soils. At an altitude of 1500–2000 m above sea level, boulder-loamy moraines, rocky placers with alpine and subalpine meadows, light forests on mountain meadow soils are noted. The lower part of the slope is covered with dark coniferous taiga on mountain humus-peaty frozen soils. On the southern slope of the circus lakes begin tributaries r. Cairo (right tributary of the Great Abakan River ).
