Biography

Born in the village of Rozhdestvenskoye, Vyshnevolotsky County, Tver Region. September 18, 1833. Baptized in the church of the Nativity of the village of Kezadra. He was brought up in the Alexander Corps of St. Petersburg from February 26, 1841, from August 18, 1844 in the Naval Cadet Corps, on August 18, 1850 he was promoted to midshipman, midshipman from August 30, 1852. He was assigned to the 23rd naval crew, and then to the crew of the frigate "Pallas" . The rank of lieutenant from November 3, 1854. In 1852–1855, on the frigate “Pallas” under the command of the diplomatic mission of Vice Admiral E. V. After returning to St. Petersburg on December 14, 1855 he was appointed adjutant to the chief of staff of the port of Kronstadt. In 1856 and in 1857 on the corvette " Olivuta " moved from the mouth of the Amur River to Kronstadt. In 1858 he was sent to the Aral Flotilla. In 1859 he sailed on a barge in the squadron of V.I. Butakov, found the channel of the Amu-Darya river. He participated in an expedition to Khiva and Bukhara.

In November 1864, by decision of Emperor Alexander II, he was appointed head of the Obukhov Steel Plant in St. Petersburg , which he successfully headed and expanded in accordance with scientific and technological progress (January 15, 1865 - April 1894) [1] .

He died on October 1, 1904 in St. Petersburg. He was buried at the Nikolsky cemetery of the Alexander Nevsky Lavra in St. Petersburg near the chapel at the main entrance. The tombstone in the form of a large and high cross of black marble is preserved, the grave is visited by descendants and relatives.

Family

From the hereditary nobles of the Tver province. The son of captain-lieutenant Alexander Vasilievich Kolokoltsov and Maria Pavlovna (nee Titov), ​​who had 11 children. His elder brother Nikolai was Rear Admiral, with the rank of lieutenant with honors participated in the battle of Sinop .
