Jomsom ( Nepali. जोमसोम , also Jomos ) is a small city in Nepal , the administrative center of the Mustang district.

Geography
Jomsom is located in the Himalayas at an altitude of 2770 m above sea level . The city is located in a valley formed by the Kali Gandaki River , flowing between the mountains of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri . The width of the valley is 0.5 - 1 km .
From Jomsom you can see the mountain peaks of Dhaulagiri I ( 8167 m ), Nilgiri ( 7061 m ), and Tukce-Ri ( 6920 m ).
According to 2011 data, the Jomsom population was 1370 people [1] .
Economics
Representatives of several state and commercial organizations of Nepal operate in Jomsom. The population is engaged in agriculture and tourism. Apples grown in the Jomsom area are highly regarded for their palatability.
Military Base
In Jomsom, there is a training point for mountain shooters of the Nepalese army .
Transport
A southbound road connects Jomsom with and further with Pokhara . There is a network of bus routes on this road.
The road to the north leads to the village of Kagbeni and to the Muktinath temple complex - a place of pilgrimage for Hindus and Buddhists .
There is a small airport in Jomsom ( Jomsom Airport ), from which there are regular flights to Pokhara (flight time is about 20 minutes ). The airport operates only in the morning, as during the daytime a strong wind rises in the Kali Gandaki Valley, making air travel impossible.
Tourism
Hiking trails pass through Jomsom:
- "Track around Annapurna" - a three-week hike around the Annapurna massif. Many tourists finish the hiking part of the route in Jomsom, from where they fly by plane to Pokhara, in this case the trip takes less than 2 weeks
- Jomsom track - trek from Nayapul to Muktinath
From Jomsom heading north, there is a road to the Kingdom of Lo - the territory of the upper Mustang, in language and culture associated with Tibet .
South of the city is the Mustang Museum, which presents collections of costumes, photographs and household items.
