History
The song “Dirt Room” was written by Justin Forstenfeld . It tells the story of what happened to the band at the end of a tour in support of the Foiled album. A certain Michael Rand, who was one of Blue October 's managers in 1999-2001, filed a lawsuit in the amount of $ 1.5 million against Justin Furstenfeld , claiming that he is the author of songs such as Hate Me , Into The Ocean and some others. Litigation lasted about a year and Justin made sure that the fraudster went to jail. In addition, according to the old tradition, he embodied revenge in the form of the song “Dirt Room”.
The song was released as a digital release on December 23, 2008. In mid-January, the single hit the radio.
The premiere of the clip took place on the site Yahoo! Music »January 27th. The director was Kevin Kerslake. The video is a story about how a robber (played by Justin Forstenfeld ) got into the house, but was caught by the mistress. She wrapped it with tape and dropped it into a previously dug grave, where he was later found by police. Also in the clip is the group Blue October itself , performing in the living room of this house.
In 2011, the song was released on Ugly Side: An Acoustic Evening with Blue October
Record Song
This song uses the sound of a faulty guitar amp. Guitarist CBS Hudson explains it this way: “During the recording, Ryan’s amplifier broke and made terrible sounds. We decided to record them and then used them in the song. These are the sounds you can hear right after the first chorus.”
The whole group took part in the creation of the song, and not just the vocalist Justin Forstenfeld . The group believes that the song was born during a rehearsal.
