“ The Logic of Treason " ( English XX / XY ) is an American melodrama directed by Austin Chick , the name refers to different pairs of chromosomes in men and women. The main roles were played by: Mark Ruffalo , Maya Stange and Kathleen Robertson . In 2002, the film was nominated for the "Grand Prize of the Jury" of the Sundance Film Festival in the same year it was released. Although the funding for the film was American, it was produced by the British company Natural Nylon .

Content
Story
Two college students, Sam (Maya Stange) and Thea (Kathleen Robertson), meet at the party with animator Coles (Mark Ruffalo), the passion and mutual attraction of the trinity brings them to one bed. Unstable friendships begin between them, and the trinity continues to expand its sexual boundaries. Soon, their friendship will be tested for strength, a romance between Sam and Coles and Thea's reckless behavior. As a result, their relationship ends, because of fear, resentment and mutual distrust.
Eight years later, they meet again. Coles, now an animator for a well-known advertising agency, has been living with his girlfriend Claire for five years. Thea, a former party girl, is now in a happy marriage with Miles, with whom she owns a successful and prosperous restaurant. Sam returned from London to New York, after their separation from Coles. Having met again, all three return to their old, complicated relationship. Soon, they will be forced to recognize the true meaning of fidelity and love, something that they have so avoided in the past.
