Career

Gaming

Almeida played in such clubs as Lazio , Internazionale , Parma . Matthias was recognized as Serie A's best player in the 1997/98 season. After the match Parma - Lazio, he became one of the popular players in the Italian championship, where he scored with a goal from 30 meters into the goal of Buffon .

In 1996, Matthias was invited to the national team, for which he played at the 1996 Olympics and at the 1998 and 2002 World Championships. After the 2001/02 season, he moved from Parma to Inter, in which he played 41 matches in two seasons.

In 2004 he moved to Brescia, but, having shown poor results, he returned to Argentina.

In 2007, he announced his retirement, but in 2009 he returned to the club where he began his career.

Coaching

On June 27, 2011, he was appointed River Plate head coach in place of the resigned Juan José Lopez [2] . Under his leadership, the Argentine Grand, having flown to the second division for the first time in his history, returned to Primera , taking first place in the season Examples B Nacional 2011/12 . He left the River at the end of November 2012 [3] .

In early April 2013, he headed the Banfield in the Argentinean second division [4] . The club under his leadership returned to the top division, finishing at the head of the season standings Examples B Nacional 2013/14 .

On September 15, 2015, he was appointed head coach of the Guadalajara Mexican Championship Club [5] . Chivas led to the championship in Clausura 2017 , two victories in the Mexican Cup - Aperture 2015 and Clausura 2017, victory in the Super Cup of Mexico 2016, victory in the CONCACAF Champions League 2018 .

On October 8, 2018, he was officially introduced as the head coach of the MLS San Jose Earthquakes club from the 2019 season [6] .
