Lixini

Lixini (lat.) - tribe of weevils from the subfamily Lixinae . The most common tribe from the subfamily Lixinae . About 700 species [1] . The genus Lixus F. is known from the Paleocene (Piton, 1940).

Distribution

There are 300 species in the Palearctic , about 200 in the Afrotropic [1] . In the fauna lixin of the West Siberian Plain and the Far East, the tribe Lixini is approximately 40% [2] .

Description

Representatives of the tribe Lixini , unlike the tribes Rhinocyllini and Cleonini , feed on the stems and inflorescences of many plant families [3] .

Systematics

In the tribe Lixini , two groups of genera are distinguished, differing in the structure and ecology of the larvae: group 1 - the genus Larinus, and related genera have an oval body (larvae develop in flowers); Group 2 - Lixus and related genera have a long cylindrical body (larvae develop in branches, petioles and roots). 15 births, including [1] :
