The residential complex was designed by architects I. P. Antonov and V. D. Sokolov and was built in 1932 . The complex is unusual for a number of architectural features. In the plan, it has the shape of a sickle (the "sickle" was built by dispossessed peasants - special settlers from the Krasnodar Territory, and he supervised the construction of the construction team of the GPU ). The buildings of the residential complex feature a rare mix of constructivism and neoclassical styles. In the 1930s - 1950s, the complex claimed the role of city-forming [2] .

The facade of a high-rise building overlooks Khimikov Lane .

The entrances facing Volodarsky Street are decorated with black labradorite columns, which is not a typical case for constructivism architecture, as well as for the architecture of the Urals , as a whole.
