Lokomotiv ( Slovakian FC Lokomotíva Košice ) is a Slovakian football club playing in Košice . The club was founded in 1946 and for 29 years played in the championship of Czechoslovakia .

History

In the seasons 1951-1952 and 1977-1978 the club ranked third in the Czechoslovak Championship. In the seasons 1976-1977 and 1978-1979, the team also won the Czechoslovak Cup. The club held several matches at major international tournaments, including 10 matches in European cups: in the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup 1977-1978 and 1979-1980 and in the UEFA Cup 1978-1979 .

The last major success of the club so far remains the victory in the Cup of Slovakia in the season 1984-1985. The 1985-1986 season was the last for the club in the Czechoslovak top division. In that season, the team took the penultimate, 15th place in the championship and flew into the second league.

After the collapse of Czechoslovakia, the club took part in the top division of the Slovak championship. In the 1993–1994 season, he took the 8th place out of 12 participants. In the 1997-1998 season, taking the penultimate last, 15th place, he dropped to the second league. In the 1999-2000 season, the club took 17th place in the second division and flew into the third division. In the season 2003-2004 dropped to the fourth league.

In the seasons from 2006–07 to 2013–14, the team competed in the eastern zone of the third division. Currently serving in the second league.
