History
It was issued in the USSR since 1967 (since 1992 in Russia) by the News Press Agency in Russian, English ( ISSN : 0131-8721 ), French, Spanish, Portuguese, German, Czech, Hungarian. [3] It was originally intended for distribution abroad, but since 1987, some numbers were distributed in the USSR itself. [four]
The content of the magazine in Soviet times was mainly the presentation and translation of remarkable materials from Soviet newspapers and magazines. For the convenience of readers, the materials of the publication were divided into thematic rubrics. [5] At the end of the issue, Russian language lessons were printed at one time, [6] fairy tales and culinary recipes of the peoples of the USSR were also printed. [5] Abroad, the digest was distributed by the All-Union Association "International Book" . [3]
