History

On August 29, 1805, the Penza Musketeer Regiment was formed as part of 3 battalions [1] . The seniority of all three battalions until 1884 was counted from 1700, according to the companies of the Astrakhan Grenadier Regiment .

On October 19, 1810, the 45th Jaeger Regiment was formed from the Penza Musketeer Regiment. On July 16, 1819, the 45th JΓ€ger Regiment was renamed the 44th JΓ€ger Regiment [2] .

On March 21, 1834, the 44th Jaeger Regiment was divided into separate battalions, while the 2nd reserve battalion was named the Black Sea Line Battalion No. 7.

In 1834-1864, the battalion participated in the suppression of the Caucasian rebellion .

On June 26, 1838, the former Black Sea Line Battalion No. 7 was assigned No. 6. January 17, 1839 reassigned No. 7. February 18, 1840 assigned No. 8. February 3, 1842 assigned No. 9.

On June 25, 1850, a simple jubilee banner with the inscription "1700-1850" with the Alexander jubilee ribbon was granted [3] .

July 23, 1856 assigned No. 1.

On April 8, 1858 it was renamed the Caucasian Line Battalion No. 33. March 23, 1868 assigned No. 21. August 1, 1874 assigned No. 3.

In 1877-1878, the battalion participated in the Russian-Turkish war

On November 6, 1883 it was renamed the Sukhumi local battalion. In 1884, seniority was established from August 25, 1805, the anniversary ribbon was put into the arsenal.

On September 20, 1889 it was renamed the 8th Caucasian Reserve Infantry Battalion. On March 25, 1891 it was renamed the Sukhumi reserve infantry battalion.

December 13, 1892 reorganized into a two-battalion Sukhumi reserve infantry regiment. May 26, 1899 assigned No. 258.

On August 25, 1905, a simple jubilee banner with the inscription β€œ1805-1905” was awarded with an Alexander jubilee ribbon.

On December 30, 1908, the Ust-Dvinsk fortress infantry battalion was attached to the regiment [4] . The regiment is named the 258th Sukhumi Infantry Regiment.

  1. ↑ Battalions are formed of 3 companies separated from the Astrakhan Grenadier Regiment , 3 companies of the old Oryol Musketeer Regiment, and 2 companies of the Ukrainian Musketeer Regiment .
  2. ↑ In some studies on ranger regiments, this renaming was not taken into account.
  3. ↑ Banners granted to the Penza Musketeer Regiment during their formation, in 1810, when the regiment was reorganized into a jaeger regiment, were selected (the jaeger units were not supposed to have state flags).
  4. ↑ Formed on October 8, 1892 as the Riga-Dynamin infantry fortress. On February 6, 1893 it was renamed the Ust-Dvinsk fortress infantry battalion.
