The flag was approved on September 30, 2009 [1] and entered in the State Heraldic Register of the Russian Federation under the number 5726.
The flag is based on the coat of arms of the Zaoksky District according to the rules and relevant traditions of vexillology and reflects historical, cultural, socio-economic, national and other local traditions.

Description
βA rectangular green cloth with a 2: 3 ratio of width to length, bearing a blue strip along the bottom edge, bounded by a concave curved (in the form of pointed waves) line; the maximum width of the strip (at the lateral edges) is 4/9 of the width of the panel, the minimum is 3/20 of the width of the panel); the blue stripe is separated from the main part of the cloth by a narrow yellow stripe, respectively curved, 1/20 of the width of the cloth; in the middle of the green part of the banner is a picture of a yellow oak adjacent to the yellow stripe. β
Justification of Symbols
The flag of the Zaoksky district reflects the geographical location of the district on the bend of the Oka River , symbolically represented on the flag by a concave azure extremity with a gold border (similar to a river sandy shore).
The oak depicted on the flag symbolizes the forest wealth of the region - the largest in the Tula region. The symbolism of oak, like a tree, is ambiguous:
- - a symbol of life, energy, growth, development, beauty;
- - a symbol of protection, peace;
- - a symbol of constancy, reliability, wisdom;
- - a symbol of fertility, the origin of the genus, longevity;
- - a symbol of rebirth, rejuvenation.

Green color symbolizes spring, health, nature, hope.
Blue color (light blue ) is a symbol of exalted aspirations, sincerity, devotion, rebirth.
Yellow color ( gold ) is a symbol of the highest value, greatness, generosity, wealth, and harvest.
