Biography
In 1967, she made her world debut. Achieved a huge advantage in the mandatory figures, which allowed her to take the overall first place, even despite the low place in the free program (for example, 9th place at the World Cup in 1972).
Fur coat is the last skater who received a mark above five points for compulsory figures. Before each obligatory figure, she drank cognac from a thimble, which kept her pulse at 60 beats / min. when performing all the figures, she executed them absolutely accurately, although very slowly. Her victory at the Olympics-72 influenced the decision of the ISU to change the judging system (mainly under pressure from the Americans, whose representatives lost in the mandatory figures), introduce a short program from the 1972/73 season and reduce the weight of mandatory figures.
She left amateur figure skating after the 1972/1973 season. After that, she performed in the professional shows “Ice Follies” and “ Holiday on Ice ” for 6 years.
In 2002, she became president of the Austrian Figure Skating Federation.
