The path of Hurricane Brenda lay so that it went to the Mexican coast twice: the first time on the northeastern tip of the Yucatan Peninsula , and then in Campeche.
The origin of the hurricane came from a tropical wave off the west coast of Africa on August 9. By August 13, passing through the Lesser Antilles and discharged by rains and thunderstorm activity, the cyclone began to lose strength. However, a few days later it began to gain strength again and by August 18 it was declared a tropical cyclone . The next day, the cyclone grew into a storm, reports from the ships in the immediate vicinity of the storm received reports of a hurricane wind. At that moment, when Brenda reached the coastline, the pressure in the center of the cyclone dropped to 992 mbar, the wind speed reached 105 km / h. On the Yucatan coast, a hurricane entered about 48 km north of Cozumel on August 19.
