History
These places were settled in 1927, when they began to give land to the Turks from near Plovdiv , and the village of Sagmaljilar was formed. In the 1930-1950s, Bosnians and Albanians from Yugoslavia and Albania moved here. Since the 1950s, industry began to develop here, and Sagmaljilar became an industrial area.
Industrial water pollution and overload due to the influx of new residents of the water-sewer system, built by Synan during the Ottoman Empire, led to an outbreak of cholera in the 1960s, and the very name Sagmaljilar became associated with cholera. Due to the fact that in the 17th century the Bairam Pasha estate (the grand vizier of Sultan Murad IV ) was located here, Sagmaljilar was renamed Bayrampasha.
In May 1990, the territory adjacent to Bayrampasha was separated from Eyup district into a separate district.
